I can’t believe I got through that! Truth is I’ve said that a lot over the past 7 years. Life happens to all of us, so the challenges I’ve faced are not unique, or shall I say possibly not as tragic to you as they felt to me, but to me my life was just downright hard for an extended period of time. The amazing thing is, I made it through with my head held high and a smile on my face, day by day, piece by piece, by the wonderful grace of God… and the Ladies of Leyton Grove.
Life certainly has its ups and downs. One day you’re on “Cloud 9.” Another day you find you’re in the pit of despair (sometimes for no apparent reason). What God has taught me is that His mercies truly are new every morning. He has plans for us–plans for good and not for evil. And no matter how dismal your circumstances may be at the moment, God is there. He sees you. He cares for you and he has a plan for you (Psalm 139). Reach up and hold on. We don’t know the future but God does and tomorrow just might be the day things all come together. Many time I’ve been encouraged by Galatians 6:9
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
I get discouraged and hear the whispers “there you go again. You will NEVER reach your goal. You always give up.” But the truth is whenever you hear the whispers of “NEVER” and “ALWAYS” it is a lie. No one ALWAYS fails. We just sadly focus on the losses rather than the wins. I love the words of Dori–“just keep swimming just keep swimming.” We will get there if we don’t grow faint and give up. Be encouraged today by the words of Paul found in Galatians 6:9 “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
How easily I fall into impulsive temptation on things that should be easy to resist–dieting and spending–ugh my “thorn in the flesh times two. Wow, how hard can it be to follow a plan and ignore the impulse to eat this or buy that because “it’s not THAT much” or “it’s so convenient to just eat this now”?
In the middle of the night the beautiful home of my friend and client burned yesterday…while they were all home and sleeping. Miraculously they all made it out alive along with their two dogs. Tragically they lost their two precious cats and everything inside of their home. They got out only with the clothes on […]
Two hours later I came home to find a stranger with a chainsaw working on a huge tree in my front yard and stumps and saw dust everywhere on the side of the house! This absolutely drenched Good Samaritan I have never met drove by right as the two largest trees at my house toppled over just 15 minutes after we drove off! Apparently one of the trees blocked the main road and this man and some city workers chopped up the one that blocked the road and he chose to stay to finish the work.
Craig Groschel spoke at Gateway this Sunday. I’m always entertained while being challenged when he speaks. This past message? On his new book #Struggles: Following Jesus in a Selfie-Centered World. He spoke much on authenticity and how in our social media/selfie-centered world we are so set on being “Filtered” that it’s hard to be real […]
